Save the Date: London to celebrate its "everyday spaces" for Great Mental Health Day 2026

As the year draws to a close, Thrive LDN and partners are looking ahead to a moment of citywide solidarity in the new year.
We are pleased to confirm that Great Mental Health Day 2026 will take place on Friday, 30 January 2026.
Celebrating “everyday spaces”
This winter can be a challenging time for many. The pressure to celebrate, combined with the colder days and the ongoing cost-of-living challenges, can heighten feelings of isolation.
That is why, for 2026, our theme will focus explicitly on the “everyday spaces” that hold us together.
Research conducted earlier this year by Thrive LDN and Peace Collective has shown us something powerful: for many Londoners, seeking support for mental health and wellbeing is not always about a formal appointment. It often starts in informal sanctuaries, the everyday spaces in our communities providing everyday support.
It starts at a supper club in Waltham Forest, a community choir in Merton, or during a quiet moment at a faith centre in Tower Hamlets.
“We are moving the conversation from ‘awareness’ to ‘connection’,” says Dan Barrett, director at Thrive LDN. “We want to celebrate the places where you don’t need an appointment to belong. The places where a creative workshop, a football game, or a shared meal is the first step towards getting help.”
A citywide call to participate
This year, Thrive LDN and partners are asking Londoners to define their everyday space.
Is it your local library? A sports club? Or, for you, is it as simple as your local park where you meet a friend?
We invite all Londoners, whether you run a community choir, a faith group, or a book club, to join us on January 30th to open your doors (virtually or physically) and show London where your support happens.
You can read more about the theme on the Thrive LDN blog. Dr Chantelle Fatania, Consultant in Public Health, Haringey Council, reflects on how the event continues to shine a light on the community spaces where trust is built.
Get ready
On Thursday, 8 January at 10am, Thrive LDN will be hosting a webinar about Great Mental Health Day which will help share ideas for how you can get involved. Register via Eventbrite.
You can explore more about Great Mental Health Day on our website. Further details on how to get involved, download the supporter pack, and find events near you will be released in early January.
For now, we wish all Londoners a peaceful end to the year. We look forward to celebrating your spaces in 2026.
