Children’s Mental Health Week is an annual event which takes place this year between 7 – 13 February 2022. Launched in 2015, it’s hosted by children’s mental health charity Place2Be to highlight the importance of looking after our emotional wellbeing from an early age.

This year’s theme is growing together, to encourage children and adults to consider how they have grown over the past few years and how they can help others grow. It is an opportunity to focus on how young people and their families, friends and communities can support each other with their wellbeing and to use this year as a time to reflect on the past two years of the pandemic.

Ruby’s Worry by Tom Percival – with British Sign Language (BSL) translation

To mark Children’s Mental Health Week, we have been working with the Royal Association for Deaf people to create a special British Sign Language-translated version of the children’s book, Ruby’s Worry, narrated by the author, Tom Percival.

Special thanks to Kelsey from the Royal Association for Deaf people for providing the BSL translation.

Ruby’s Worry, part of Tom Percival’s Big Bright Feelings series, is a perceptive, poignant book, perfect for opening discussions of anything that might be worrying a young reader. It tells the story of Ruby, who loves being Ruby until one day she finds a worry. It’s not such a big worry at first, but then it starts to grow. Ruby’s Worry is available from publishers Bloomsbury at and at all good book shops.
