New citywide campaign is asking How do we #ThriveLDN?

A London-wide campaign to highlight the efforts and activities of communities to improve mental health and build resilience is underway
Thrive LDN, the citywide movement which in 2019 engaged with more than 200,000 participants to improve mental health and wellbeing, is celebrating Londoners and the amazing work they are doing in their communities by asking: How do we #ThriveLDN?

Londoners have said that whilst the capital offers a wealth of opportunities for people to lead healthy and happy lives, living and working here can present various challenges and issues which can impact on mental health and wellbeing. At the same time, London is a place full of individuals coming together to look out for each other and build strength and resilience.
Dr Jacqui Dyer, Mental Health Equalities Champion for NHS England and Co-Lead of Thrive LDN, said: “Thrive LDN was launched to ensure Londoners were front and centre when it comes to improving mental health. We know that some Londoners face greater challenges because of the colour of their skin, where they were born, their sexuality, the money they earn, or their health or housing situation. However, we know that communities across London are full of amazing people and we need to celebrate the work they’re doing to support themselves and to build strength and resilience to the challenges they face.
“Our campaign is promoting and highlighting the power of talking, listening and supporting one another. It is a celebration of those individuals and communities from all walks of life who are helping themselves and others in our city to thrive.
“We are seeing many examples across London of individuals and organisations helping to spread knowledge, skills and support to better look after themselves and their neighbours. Please share your stories as part of the campaign via the Thrive LDN website or using #ThriveLDN.”

Act of Kindness Benches
Additionally, throughout the three-week campaign, a number of Act of Kindness Benches, elsewhere in the UK known as Happy to Chat benches, will be introduced and piloted across the city including in the London Boroughs of Barnet, Greenwich, Ealing, Brent and Westminster. The introduction of the pilot scheme is to create dedicated space for conversations, and to help combat social isolation and loneliness. You can find your local bench or if you would like to pilot one of your local benches as an AOK Bench.
The How do we #ThriveLDN? campaign continues Thrive LDN’s citywide, open conversation to encourage everyone to think, talk and act more when it comes to mental wellbeing for them and their communities.
