About the organisation

Queen’s Crescent Community Association is 20 years old this year. It has been based in the same building in Ashdown Crescent NW5 all that time; a still point of welcome in a constantly changing neighbourhood.

What started as a drinking club in the 60s for a largely Irish population is now a charity turning over £1 million, working for a culturally mixed community. It’s a major provider of free and subsidised services for people in the Gospel Oak area. It’s a team of 35 staff, many of whom grew up in the neighbourhood. It’s a mediator in an area that’s one of the most socially-deprived in the UK. It’s a hub which regularly brings together residents, councillors, police, MPs and other local charities. But most of all, it’s a place that believes in inclusion, co-operation and tolerance.
